Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday that his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska was “productive and candid.”
During a meeting with staff from Russia’s nuclear energy companies, Putin said, “We had a very good, productive, and candid meeting in Alaska.”

The Russian president expressed hope that the initial steps taken by Russia and the United States would mark the beginning of a full restoration of bilateral relations. He added, “I am counting greatly on the fact that the first steps taken (by Russia and the United States) are only the beginning of restoring our relations on a full scale.”
Putin made these remarks during his visit on Friday to the city of Sarov, home to one of the main enterprises in Russia’s military nuclear complex – the Russian Federal Nuclear Center – the Institute for Experimental Physics, part of the Rosatom State Corporation.
