Following Victories in New York, Trump Attacks Progressives: "Animals and Godless Communists"
In a sharply-worded speech, US President Donald Trump escalated his attack on the progressive movement within the United States, describing it as harboring "godless radical communists" and warning that they pose "the most dangerous threat to the country in 250 years." The speech has triggered a widespread wave of criticism and warnings regarding its repercussions on the American political landscape.اضافة اعلان

Trump’s remarks came during his participation in a political conference held by the "Faith and Freedom" Coalition. According to the "Common Dreams" platform, he leveraged a string of electoral victories by progressive candidates within the Democratic Party, alongside judicial rulings that restricted some of his policies, to intensify his offensive against his political opponents.

In his speech, Trump said that progressives are "animals in many cases," adding in a contradictory manner that they are "not smart, but sometimes they are"—a rhetoric that observers viewed as a continuation of his escalatory approach to labeling political rivals.

In a previous post on the "Truth Social" platform, Trump claimed that he "would be the greatest communist in history" if policies such as free rent, food, and housing were implemented, warning that such measures would lead to "the collapse of the state within a few years."

He also claimed that progressives "will close churches and kill people," accusing them of specifically targeting Christianity—statements that have been described as highly inflammatory and lacking any independent evidence.

He further added, without providing proof, that "the United States carried out strikes in Nigeria that helped stop the targeting of Christians there," a narrative that has not been independently verified.

These remarks follow a notable rise of several progressive candidates within the Democratic Party, including Zohran Mamdani, alongside Senator Bernie Sanders. They have maintained that primary election results reflect a shift in the public mood against traditional policies and the influence of big money in American politics.

These figures are pushing for a political agenda centered on expanding affordable housing, strengthening public healthcare, and supporting labor unions. They have also taken critical stances against US military support for Israel in the Gaza war, exacerbating the rift within the Democratic Party between its centrist and progressive wings.

In New York, the local arena witnessed a decision to freeze rents for approximately one million apartments for two years. While the progressive movement welcomed the step as a social achievement, conservatives described it as excessive government intervention in the market.

Furthermore, a local administration announced the allocation of $15 million to expand healthcare services related to gender transition, a move that garnered support from progressives but drew criticism from conservatives.

Conversely, Axios quoted analysts stating that the centrist wing within the Democratic Party is preparing to toughen its stance against the progressive faction by adopting policy documents that reaffirm support for capitalism and fiscal discipline.

Additionally, the Mizda Stouch website indicated that Trump’s recent rhetoric might reflect early preparation for the upcoming electoral battle.

This escalation comes at a time when the United States is experiencing sharp political polarization between conservatives and progressives, amid growing debate over immigration policies, voting rights, and social justice, and as legal battles continue to challenge some of the previous administration's decisions.
