In a statement, the government expressed its deep appreciation for Jordan’s consistent support for Yemen over the past decades, highlighting Jordan’s humanitarian and political contributions, which it said reflect the strong fraternal ties between the two countries and their peoples, as well as Jordan’s continued commitment to Yemen’s security, stability, unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The Yemeni government affirmed its full commitment to providing all necessary logistical and administrative support to ensure the success of the initiative. It stressed that protecting the interests of Yemeni citizens and alleviating their suffering remain national priorities and an integral part of its constitutional responsibility to safeguard the country’s sovereignty.

The statement also noted that the initiative is fully consistent with previous proposals by the Yemeni government to operate Sana’a International Airport legally and safely through the national carrier, Yemenia Airways, to destinations agreed upon by the relevant parties. It added that such operations would serve all citizens without discrimination while respecting Yemen’s sovereignty, national laws, international law, and the state’s exclusive authority over its airspace and airports.

Separately, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Friday that, in response to the humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people, in support of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to advance the peace process in Yemen, and in line with previous understandings regarding commercial air services between the two countries, Royal Jordanian will launch a regular passenger service between Amman and Sana’a.

The ministry added that the necessary technical and logistical procedures are currently being finalized to begin operating the flights.
