The spokesperson warned that Iran would target infrastructure across the region if US President Donald Trump carries out his threats to launch attacks on Iranian infrastructure.
On Wednesday, the US Central Command announced the execution of a new series of airstrikes against Iran.
In a statement on "X", it said these strikes aimed to further degrade the military capabilities used by Iranian forces to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
US forces had executed a round of strikes on Iran overnight Tuesday-Wednesday, targeting dozens of military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian coastal areas for the fourth consecutive night. The missiles and drones targeted Iranian capabilities, naval assets, and coastal defense systems during a seven-hour wave aimed at undermining Iran's ability to threaten commercial ships and their civilian crews.
These strikes came on the same day US forces resumed the naval blockade imposed on ships transiting to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas.
