Three sources told Reuters that envoys from the "Peace Council," headed by U.S. President Donald Trump, met with representatives of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Cairo. The meeting aimed to preserve the Gaza ceasefire, which has come under significant pressure since the United States and Israel began bombing Iran.اضافة اعلان

The meeting, held over the weekend, marks the first publicly reported encounter between Hamas and the Peace Council since the outbreak of the war. Following the meeting, Israel announced yesterday, Sunday, that it would soon reopen the Rafah Crossing between Gaza and Egypt, which had been closed since the start of the bombing campaign against Iran.

One source stated that the Israeli announcement is believed to be a direct result of the meeting between Hamas and the Peace Council—a new international body personally chaired by Trump and tasked with overseeing post-war Gaza.

Prior to the war in Iran, Trump’s Gaza plan was considered his flagship Middle East initiative. Sources noted that Hamas representatives warned the Council that the Palestinian movement might backtrack on its previous commitments under the Gaza ceasefire agreement if Israel continues to impose new restrictions on the Strip during the ongoing conflict with Iran.
