Abd al-Rahman al-Sabateen, a 21-year-old detainee from the town of Husan west of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday at Israel’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center in occupied Jerusalem, according to a joint statement issued by the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society.

The statement explained that al-Sabateen had been in detention since June 24 of this year. A court session was held for him on November 25, during which his health condition was not disclosed, despite the fact that he had sustained a serious abdominal injury a year prior to his arrest and his condition had later stabilized.
The statement added that al-Sabateen’s death constitutes another addition to what it described as the Israeli occupation’s policy of “slow-kill” against prisoners and detainees, and part of a broader pattern of systematic field executions that form a central aspect of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.
