The Government Media Office in Gaza said Wednesday that more than 900,000 Palestinians in Gaza City remain steadfast in their right to stay and reject forced displacement, despite heavy bombardment and what it described as acts of genocide carried out by Israel.

In a statement, the office affirmed: “More than 900,000 Palestinians are still holding on in Gaza City, firmly rejecting attempts at forced displacement and compulsory evacuation to the south, despite the horrific bombardment and genocidal crimes committed by the Israeli occupation as part of a policy of permanent forced transfer, in clear violation of all international laws and conventions.”
The statement added that the Israeli army is “engaged in systematic deception by promoting the existence of tents, aid, and humanitarian services that do not exist in reality,” arguing that such claims are merely aimed at coercing civilians into abandoning their homes and neighborhoods.
The office noted that government teams had recorded an increase in displacement toward the south due to Israel’s assaults since the beginning of what it called the forced displacement campaign, with 335,000 Palestinians forced to leave their homes under bombardment, including more than 60,000 in just the past three days.
At the same time, it recorded a reverse displacement movement, with over 24,000 Palestinians returning to their original areas in Gaza City because of the lack of basic living conditions in the south.
It further stressed that the Al-Mawasi area in Khan Younis and Rafah, promoted by Israel as a so-called “safe humanitarian zone,” had been struck by more than 114 air raids and repeated bombardments, resulting in over 2,000 Palestinian deaths in successive massacres.
“These areas lack all basic necessities of life—there are no hospitals, no infrastructure, no essential services such as water, food, shelter, electricity, or education—making life there nearly impossible,” the statement read.
It added that the area allocated by Israel in its maps for shelter amounts to only 12 percent of Gaza’s territory, while attempting to confine more than 1.7 million people within it.
The office described this as part of “a plan to establish concentration camps under a systematic forced displacement policy, aimed at emptying northern Gaza and Gaza City of their residents—constituting a full-fledged war crime and a crime against humanity in violation of international and humanitarian law.”
The Government Media Office condemned “in the strongest terms the ongoing genocidal crimes and forced displacement carried out by the occupation against civilians,” decrying what it called the shameful international silence and failure to uphold legal and moral responsibilities.
It held “the Israeli occupation and its strategic ally, the U.S. administration, as well as states complicit in these genocidal crimes, fully responsible for the situation and its international legal consequences.”
Finally, it called on the international community, the United Nations, and international legal bodies to “take serious and effective action to stop these crimes, hold Israeli leaders accountable before the relevant courts, and ensure the protection of civilians and their right to remain on their land in safety and dignity.”
