According to initial accounts, at least one Israeli soldier was killed and nine others were wounded, with injuries ranging from serious to critical, while other sources suggested the death toll was higher than officially announced.

Reports indicated that the unit ambushed belonged to the 162nd Division and the 401st Brigade, when fighters from the Al-Qassam Brigades launched a fierce attack, sparking intense clashes that lasted for hours.

The occupation army deployed six military helicopters to evacuate the wounded soldiers, but they came under heavy fire over the area.

Hebrew outlets confirmed that one helicopter landed at Ichilov Hospital, indicating the transfer of soldiers with critical injuries.

The army also announced that it had activated the “Hannibal Protocol” to prevent its soldiers from being captured, while launching intensive illumination flares over Gaza’s skies to secure search and rescue operations.

Israeli media platforms described the events in Al-Zaytoun as a difficult and complex incident, stressing that a large number of Al-Qassam fighters took part in the attack and had set up multiple ambushes for the infiltrating force. – Agencies
