In a statement, the occupation army noted that the officer was killed during a clash with a Hezbollah operative inside the village of Deir Syriane, while another soldier was injured during the confrontation.

On the other hand, Hezbollah-affiliated media reported that one of the group's operatives clashed with an Israeli force in the town of Deir Syriane, resulting in the death of an Israeli officer and the injury of a soldier before the force withdrew.

In a separate development, Israeli media reported that a car bomb exploded in the city of Holon, south of Tel Aviv, with no official information released so far regarding the extent of the casualties or the circumstances of the incident.

Lebanon and the Israeli occupation had previously signed a US-sponsored framework agreement. The agreement includes security arrangements, the redeployment of the Lebanese army, as well as measures for reconstructing affected areas, reviving the Lebanese economy, establishing direct communication channels between both sides, and undertaking confidence-building measures as a prelude to a lasting peace.
