The Israeli occupation army stated in a press release on Wednesday that the "Southern Front" is the unit within Hezbollah responsible for executing operations against Israeli citizens and engaging Israeli forces in Southern Lebanon. The statement noted that Hashem, during his leadership of the unit, supervised the launching of rockets and drones toward Israeli territory and led the party's reconstruction efforts.

According to the statement, Hashem was a commander with over 40 years of experience and was considered one of the primary pillars of Hezbollah. He assumed the position of Commander of the Southern Front following the killing of leader Ali Karaki, who was assassinated alongside the party's former Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, during Operation "Northern Arrows."
The occupation army added that over the years, Hashem was responsible for the "Nasser," "Aziz," and "Badr" units—the divisions tasked with fighting Israeli forces in Southern Lebanon and launching rocket fire toward Israel.
The statement further claimed that Hashem "led and advanced, over many years and particularly in the recent period, thousands of offensive plans against Israeli citizens and forces."
The occupation army concluded that "the assassination of Hashem constitutes a significant blow to Hezbollah's capabilities in executing offensive plans against Israeli citizens and managing the continued combat against Israeli forces in Southern Lebanon."
