Trump has recently begun forming the Gaza-specific “Peace Council,” and a number of world leaders have announced that they have received official invitations to join it.
The White House had explained that, under the U.S. plan to end the war in Gaza, a Peace Council would be established under Trump’s leadership.
In addition to the council, two other bodies linked to it have been created: a Palestinian technocratic committee to temporarily administer the Gaza Strip, and an “Executive Council” that appears set to play an advisory role.
The White House confirmed that the Peace Council, chaired by Donald Trump, will address issues such as “enhancing administrative capacities, regional relations, reconstruction, attracting investment and large-scale financing, and facilitating capital flows” to rebuild the Gaza Strip, which was devastated by a war that lasted two years.
The Peace Council will also oversee the work of the Palestinian technocratic committee tasked with temporarily administering the Strip, aiming to “supervise the restoration of essential public services, rebuild civilian institutions, and stabilize daily life in Gaza.”
