GAZA — According to the Palestinian News Agency, WAFA, Israeli Occupation Forces raided a section of Al-Shifa Medical Hospital early on Wednesday. Dr. Mohammad Zaqout, the general director of the hospitals in the Gaza Strip, informed Al Jazeera that the IOF had initiated a search in the basement of Al-Shifa. He claimed that they also entered the surgical and emergency buildings within the hospital complex.

Eyewitnesses within the complex reported hearing gunfire in the courtyards. Meanwhile, Zaqout shared that some individuals were fired upon while attempting to leave the hospital corridor, which was considered a safe exit.
However, the IOF asserted that it was conducting an operation against Hamas in a specific part of the Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City, citing "intelligence information and operational necessity."
In a statement, Hamas held the Israeli government and U.S. President Joe Biden responsible for the Israeli army's incursion into the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in western Gaza City. Hamas affirmed that the White House and Pentagon's endorsement of the occupation's narrative, accusing the resistance of using the Al-Shifa Medical Complex for military purposes, amounted to a green light for the IOF to commit more massacres against civilians, forcibly displacing them from north to south.
The Gaza Government Media Office held the Israeli occupation and the international community fully responsible for the safety of the medical staff, the wounded, and the displaced at the Al-Shifa Complex. The Media Office warned of a potential massacre by the Israeli occupation at the Al-Shifa Medical Complex.
The occupation forces had informed the medical staff at the Al-Shifa Complex of their intention to storm the complex, which houses thousands, including medical staff, the wounded, and displaced persons.
