Iraq Declares Three-Day National Mourning for Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
The Iraqi government announced a three-day national mourning across the country following the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in an unprecedented U.S.-Israeli strike on Iranian territory.اضافة اعلان

In an official statement, government spokesperson Bassem Al-Awadi extended condolences to the Iranian people and the Islamic world, condemning the attack as a “blatant aggression that violates all humanitarian norms and international conventions.” He also called for an immediate halt to military operations that could escalate regional violence.

Politically, Iraq’s Coordinating Framework, which includes pro-Iranian Shiite parties, mourned Khamenei, describing his blood as “a beacon for generations and a cry against tyranny.”

Meanwhile, Shiite National Movement leader Muqtada al-Sadr also offered condolences to the Islamic world and announced a three-day mourning period, reflecting the close ties between Baghdad’s political factions and Tehran, particularly within what is known as the “Resistance Axis.”

These events have raised serious concerns about possible repercussions in Iraq, given Tehran’s significant influence over allied militias that are part of the country’s security and political apparatus. The Iraqi public is closely watching for potential military responses targeting U.S. bases in Iraq, which could turn the country into a direct battlefield between Washington and Tel Aviv on one side, and Tehran-aligned forces on the other.
