The Land Transport Regulatory Commission will continue on Sunday the trial operation of the second phase of a project to develop regular public transport services between Jordan’s governorates, launching the Jerash–Irbid and Irbid–Zarqa routes.
The trial operation of the Jerash–Irbid route will involve 15 large buses, with a fare of JD 1.25, while the Irbid–Zarqa route will operate with 42 medium-sized buses at a fare of JD 1.50.
The buses meet the latest approved technical and operational standards, providing safe, regular and efficient public transportation services between the governorates.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the commission said all buses have been equipped with the highest safety and comfort standards, as well as electronic tracking and electronic payment systems. These systems are designed to ensure adherence to departure times and operating frequencies, improve the quality of services provided to citizens, and offer a more comfortable and reliable travel experience between governorates.
As part of the continued expansion of the regular public transport network, the commission announced plans to launch additional routes in the coming days.
Trial operations on the Amman–Ajloun route will begin on August 16, using 22 medium-sized buses at a fare of JD 1.50.
On August 20, trial operations will begin on the Zarqa–Mafraq route using 44 large buses, alongside the launch of the Jerash–Mafraq route using 11 medium-sized buses, with a fare of 95 piasters.
These routes are part of the announced timetable for completing the operation of all routes included in the second phase of the project.
The continuation of trial operations follows the successful launch of the Amman–Tafilah and Amman–Ma’an routes on August 2, confirming that the project is proceeding according to the commission’s implementation plan and announced timetable, with the full regular public transport network expected to be operational by the end of August.
The commission called on citizens to make use of the regular public transport services and adhere to designated transport hubs and departure times. It also stressed that its field inspection and technical teams will continue to monitor the trial operations and assess performance on an ongoing basis to ensure the project’s success and achieve its objectives of improving public transport services across the Kingdom.
