The number of journalists killed since the beginning of the genocide in the Gaza Strip has risen to 220, following the announcement of the death of journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda, director of the Barq Gaza news agency. He was killed along with several family members when Israeli forces bombed their home in the Jabalia al-Nazla area in northern Gaza.

The Government Media Office in Gaza issued a statement on Sunday strongly condemning the systematic targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists by Israeli forces. The office called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all media organizations around the world to denounce these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media workers in the Gaza Strip.
The statement also urged the international community, international organizations, and entities concerned with journalism and media to:
Condemn the ongoing crimes of the occupation,
Hold Israel accountable in international courts,
Prosecute war criminals and bring them to justice,
Exert serious and effective pressure to stop the genocide,
Protect journalists and media professionals in Gaza,
End the killing and targeted assassinations of media personnel.
