Mamani emphasized that this decision was in response to the aggressive and disproportionate assault on Gaza and Bolivia's firm rejection of all forms of harsh, inhumane, and degrading treatment as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Reuters reported.

He stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, stating that Israel's military offensive in Gaza poses a threat to international peace and must be condemned. He also underlined the importance of not obstructing the entry of food, medicine, and humanitarian supplies into Gaza.

Bolivia had previously severed diplomatic ties with Israel in 2009 in protest of its attacks on Gaza. In 2020, under the leadership of President Janine Añez, the Bolivian government restored relations between the two nations.
