The ministry explained that the operation was carried out as part of a well-planned security effort, which included prior intelligence gathering and monitoring, in coordination between security units in the Houla and Talkalakh regions in the Homs countryside.

It confirmed that the detainees were attempting to flee the country before being arrested and brought to justice to receive their fair punishment, stressing that there would be "no tolerance for anyone who threatens the security of the nation and its citizens."

The ministry also stated that internal security forces continue to pursue those involved in crimes against the Syrian people, affirming that "no effort will be spared in protecting every individual on this blessed land," while highlighting the importance of community awareness in combating crime and not shielding criminals.

A Face-to-Face Confrontation

Some of the detainees gave detailed confessions about the methods of torture and summary executions inside the prison. One spoke of carrying out mass executions of hundreds of detainees, while another revealed he had requested "girls to rape," facilitated by prison officials, confirming repeated assaults on women.

Former detainees confronted their jailers face to face. In this context, Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab said in a post on platform X:
“This image alone is enough to send a message to every free and oppressed soul — that no matter how long the night of oppression and crime lasts, the sun of freedom and dignity must rise again, no matter how long it takes.”

The minister added that “the hand of justice will reach every oppressor and killer no matter how hard they try to escape, and that truth does not die with time,” noting that what happened sums up a story of pain and hope between the past and the future, and affirming: “Every oppressor has an end, whether sooner or later.”
