Israeli Army Promotes Continuation of Genocidal War in Gaza for Another Year
The extremist Netanyahu-led government is promoting the continuation of the genocidal war against the Gaza Strip for over a year, until the full occupation of Gaza City is completed. This threatens over 1.3 million Palestinians — including around 500,000 children — with direct and escalating danger, amid widespread Palestinian and international condemnation.اضافة اعلان

Goals such as the displacement of Palestinians, the defeat of Hamas and the Palestinian resistance, and the disarmament of these groups — which remain unachieved — continue to enjoy broad consensus within the extremist government. This is despite apparent internal disputes over the plan to occupy Gaza City and expand the war, while military estimates within the Israeli army suggest the operation may take a year or longer.

Although the government’s consensus on continuing the genocide in Gaza may seem at odds with public pressure inside the occupying entity — particularly from the families of Israeli captives calling for a ceasefire — the dispute is over timing, not principle. These voices demand securing the release of their captives before the Israeli army launches its assault on Gaza City.

Israeli media have pointed to a dispute between Israeli army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and extremist minister Bezalel Smotrich during a recent meeting with Netanyahu and other political and military leaders to discuss the Gaza City invasion plan, according to Channel 12.

The disagreement centered on the difficulty of setting a timeline for the displacement of nearly one million Palestinians from Gaza, according to Halevi, amid fears of resistance retaliation. However, Smotrich — along with fellow extremist Itamar Ben Gvir — responded by stating: “Whoever doesn’t evacuate, give them no water or electricity. Let them starve or surrender,” reflecting a deeply racist and inhumane stance.

Israel’s Defense Minister, the extremist Yoav Gallant, claimed that the Israeli army is working with full force to defeat Hamas, free all captives, and end the war on terms set by the Israeli government.

Months of indirect ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel have so far failed, despite intense efforts by mediators and Hamas's approval of a new proposal. Netanyahu responded by approving the plan to occupy Gaza City.

The Government Media Office in Gaza warned that the occupation’s repeated threats and plans to invade the city signal an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, for which Israel, the U.S., and the international community would bear responsibility.

In a statement issued yesterday, the office strongly condemned the repeated threats and plans to invade Gaza City, home to over 1.3 million Palestinians, including more than 500,000 children — describing it as a serious escalation and a direct threat to hundreds of thousands of civilians.

It added that any invasion of Gaza City would constitute a major war crime, especially given the systematic destruction of the healthcare system in Gaza and the north, and the shutdown of hospitals — exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and putting thousands of lives at risk.

The office warned that these threats reveal a premeditated intent to commit mass killings and forced displacement, calling on the international community, the UN, and all human rights organizations to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities, take urgent action to stop Israel’s crimes, protect civilians, and ensure the healthcare system remains functional.

It affirmed that the Palestinian people will remain steadfast on their land and that the criminal policies of the occupation will not break their will.

For its part, Hamas stated that Netanyahu’s approval of the Gaza occupation plan after the movement had agreed to the mediator’s proposal proves his determination to obstruct a prisoner exchange and ceasefire deal.

In a statement issued yesterday, Hamas said it had agreed to a partial deal and expressed willingness for a comprehensive one, but Netanyahu rejected all solutions. It pointed to both Israeli and American admissions confirming that Netanyahu is the true obstacle to exchange deals and a ceasefire.

The group added that statements by former U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller revealed Netanyahu's stalling tactics and dishonesty — introducing new conditions each time a deal neared completion — solely to prolong the war for political reasons.

Hamas stressed that a ceasefire is the only way to ensure the return of Israeli captives and that Netanyahu bears full responsibility for their fate.

The movement concluded that over 22 months of aggression have disproven the myth of total victory promoted by war criminals like Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, and Smotrich, calling for continued official and public pressure to stop the genocide and starvation being inflicted on the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, Israel continues its aggression against Gaza as part of an ongoing genocide that has resulted in over 62,122 martyrs, 156,758 wounded, mostly women and children, more than 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 269 Palestinians, including 112 children.
