The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education reported on Tuesday that 18,651 Palestinian students have been killed and 29,114 injured since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, in Gaza and the West Bank.

The ministry’s statement indicated that in Gaza alone, more than 18,508 students were killed and 28,142 injured, while in the West Bank, 143 students were killed, 972 injured, and 792 others arrested.
Additionally, 972 teachers and administrative staff were either killed or injured, with 4,538 injured and over 199 arrested in the West Bank.
The statement also highlighted the extensive destruction of educational facilities: 172 public schools and 63 university buildings in Gaza were completely destroyed. Another 118 public schools and over 100 UNRWA schools were damaged or destroyed. Overall, 25 schools were erased from official educational records along with their students and staff. In the West Bank, 152 schools were vandalized, and 8 universities and colleges faced repeated incursions and damage. The academic year was also delayed due to financial crises caused by the continued seizure of Palestinian tax revenues by the occupation.
