Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi joined Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday. The visit follows the round of negotiations held between the United States and Iran in Switzerland, in which Islamabad is playing a mediatory role.

The Iranian News Agency (IRNA) reported that immediately upon his arrival in Pakistan, Araqchi met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, within the framework of ongoing consultations regarding developments in the negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
Araqchi had previously accompanied Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, head of the Iranian negotiating team, during a visit to the Sultanate of Oman following the conclusion of talks with the US side held on Sunday in Switzerland.
Pakistani PM: Iranian-US Agreement is a Significant Step
In a related context, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the recent agreement reached between Iran and the United States in Switzerland, describing it as a significant step toward bolstering security and stability regionally and globally.
During an address before the Federal Parliament, Sharif affirmed that Pakistan has always supported dialogue and diplomacy as a means to resolve conflicts, considering that the agreement represents a success for the approach of negotiation and understanding, and that the progress achieved between both sides is a positive development on both regional and international levels.
The Pakistani Prime Minister revealed some details of the mediation, stating that efforts continued throughout an entire day and night to draft the final communique. He added that the sides reached not only a halt to the war between the United States and Iran, but also an agreement to establish technical committees to discuss numerous detailed issues, with consultations set to continue over the next 60 days aiming to achieve a long-term peace.
Sharif explained that the agreement would contribute to reducing regional tensions, enhancing global trade, and supporting stability in international energy markets, expressing his hope that Tehran and Washington would successfully capitalize on the 60-day window to reach a comprehensive and sustainable agreement.
