During a meeting on Sunday with Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi said that King Abdullah’s talks with President Xi Jinping on Monday would open broader prospects for cooperation between Jordan and China in a way that serves mutual interests.

In an interview with China’s Xinhua News Agency published on Monday, King Abdullah said that the longstanding relationship between Jordan and China provides a solid foundation for advancing shared priorities, fostering innovation and achieving greater prosperity for the peoples of both countries.

His Majesty emphasized that Jordan’s strategic location, resources and skilled young population, combined with China’s economic strength, technological expertise and global reach, create exceptional opportunities for expanding cooperation.

The King noted that bilateral relations have made significant progress since the establishment of the strategic partnership in 2015. Cooperation has expanded beyond traditional diplomatic ties to include trade, investment, infrastructure, education, healthcare and cultural exchange.

The visit comes more than a decade after Jordan and China established their strategic partnership in 2015 and ahead of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year.
