His Majesty King Abdullah II met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing on Monday to discuss ways to advance Jordanian-Chinese relations across a range of vital sectors.

During the meeting, King Abdullah emphasized that bilateral ties have strengthened since the establishment of diplomatic relations nearly five decades ago and were elevated to a strategic partnership in 2015. He noted that China is a very important economic partner for Jordan.
The King spoke about his visit to China and discussions on expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, stressing that Jordan has significant potential to contribute to the partnership and that there are substantial opportunities for growth.
His Majesty also highlighted Jordan’s keenness to expand cooperation with China in tourism, agriculture, pharmaceutical and food industries, engineering, and a number of other sectors.
For his part, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said the leaderships of both countries are committed to strengthening bilateral relations from one generation to the next, emphasizing the importance of the King’s visit in building trust and expanding bilateral ties.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi; Royal Court Chief Alaa Al-Batayneh; Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Al-Qudah; Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh; Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smirat; Jordan’s Ambassador to China Hussam Al-Husseini; and Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei.
