Speaking in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), Safadi said Jordan respects China’s position and counts on its role in international efforts to achieve a two-state solution.

International Law as Basis for Dialogue

Safadi stressed that dialogue and diplomacy should remain the means of resolving conflicts, based on international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.

Respect for State Sovereignty

He emphasized the need to respect the principles of good-neighborly relations and non-interference in the internal affairs of states, saying these principles form the framework within which Jordan works to promote security and stability.

Jordan-China Cooperation

Safadi said Jordan looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China, highlighting the important role Beijing can play in supporting efforts to achieve a just peace that upholds rights, strengthens security and stability, and paves the way for economic development that can provide the region’s peoples with decent living conditions, security and safety.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah II is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday during a state visit to the People’s Republic of China aimed at expanding bilateral relations and broadening cooperation, particularly in the economic, investment and development fields.

The visit is also expected to see the signing of around 24 agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two governments covering various sectors, as part of efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between Jordan and China.
