Al Shamsi said the co-pilot initiated his plan during the flight, assaulting the pilot inside the cockpit with an emergency axe and attempting to take control of the aircraft’s flight controls.
He said investigations are still underway to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident, its motives and any related connections, as well as to complete technical examinations and the analysis of physical and digital evidence.
He added that the final findings would be announced once all necessary procedures have been completed.
Meanwhile, a Flydubai spokesperson said the circumstances surrounding the incident involving the company’s aircraft remain under investigation and that the airline was not in a position to provide further comment.
