Jordanian Meteorological Department Director Raed Rafed Al Khattab received Syrian Meteorological Department Director Abdul Karim Al Mohammad and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday evening during a visit aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination in meteorology and exchanging technical expertise and knowledge between the two sides.اضافة اعلان

The visit comes as part of the shared commitment to developing cooperation between the two institutions and benefiting from accumulated expertise and experience in weather monitoring and forecasting. The effort aims to improve meteorological services, strengthen early warning capabilities, and enhance responses to various weather phenomena.

During the visit, the Syrian delegation reviewed a number of systems, devices and technologies used by the Jordanian Meteorological Department, as well as their operation and applications in weather monitoring and forecasting. The delegation also learned about systems for receiving and processing weather data and information, along with mechanisms for issuing weather bulletins and warnings.

The visit also included a tour of weather monitoring stations, the observation network and automated systems, as well as an overview of mechanisms for collecting, monitoring the quality of and exchanging weather data. The two sides also reviewed a number of technical applications and systems used to support forecasting operations and monitor weather conditions.

Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining communication and coordination and continuing the exchange of technical and scientific expertise. They also discussed the possibility of implementing joint programs in training and professional development, exchanging data and expertise, and developing monitoring, forecasting and early warning systems. This includes the possibility of training Syrian meteorological personnel at the Training Center for Weather Monitoring and Forecasting affiliated with the Jordanian Meteorological Department, in accordance with approved official frameworks and procedures.

The Director of the Jordanian Meteorological Department welcomed the visit, emphasizing that strengthening cooperation among meteorological agencies in the region is an important step toward exchanging knowledge and expertise and developing technical capabilities. He noted that the department is prepared to exchange expertise and experience with the Syrian side in various areas of mutual interest.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Syrian side expressed its appreciation for the warm reception and for the opportunity to review the technical experiences, systems and equipment at the Jordanian Meteorological Department. It stressed the importance of continuing cooperation, coordination and the exchange of expertise to help advance meteorological work in both countries.
