Israeli Occupation Forces Carry Out Massacre in Nuseirat as Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Gaza
Fourteen Palestinians were martyred and 37 others injured on Friday, most of them in a massacre at the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, following a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting various areas across the Strip, amid a worsening humanitarian crisis that Israeli and UN reports have warned is reaching critical levels.

The strikes come amid what Palestinian sources describe as continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since October 10, 2025.

Hospital sources in Gaza said that 14 Palestinians were martyred and 37 others injured by Israeli fire since dawn on Friday.

Al-Awda Hospital said an Israeli airstrike targeted a funeral procession in Nuseirat refugee camp, resulting in the martyrdom of eight Palestinians and injuring 20 others.

According to reports, Israeli drones fired several missiles at a gathering of Palestinians attending the funeral of a martyr at Ahmed Yassin Mosque in central Nuseirat, causing the martyrdom of eight Palestinians and injuring more than 20 others, including women, children, and elderly people. Ten of the injured were reported to be in critical condition.

Ambulance and civil defense teams rescued the wounded and transferred them to Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat. Medical staff were reportedly struggling to provide treatment due to the large influx of casualties, many of whom were critically injured.

Witnesses said the strike was part of a series of deadly attacks across central Gaza. An earlier strike on the northern part of Nuseirat refugee camp resulted in the martyrdom of one Palestinian and injuries to others, while another airstrike targeted a tent sheltering displaced people in Deir al-Balah.

Israeli aircraft also struck a tent housing displaced civilians in Al-Zawaida, resulting in the martyrdom of one Palestinian and injuries to others, while Israeli drones maintained intensive surveillance over central Gaza.

For its part, Hamas said the “Israeli occupation army” had committed a “horrific massacre” in Nuseirat refugee camp by bombing civilians gathered for a funeral, resulting in the martyrdom of at least eight Palestinians and wounding dozens more.

The movement renewed its call on mediators overseeing the ceasefire agreement and the United Nations to take urgent action to stop what it described as the ongoing “Zionist campaign of terrorism, killing, and blockade” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

A medical source also reported the martyrdom of Mohammed Taysir Obeid and injuries to six civilians, including women and children, after an Israeli drone struck an apartment in the Al-Taj residential building on Al-Yarmouk Street in central Gaza City.

Another Israeli strike targeted an apartment in a residential building on Al-Mu’assasat Street west of Gaza City, with no casualties reported.

Later, a Palestinian was seriously wounded after being targeted by an Israeli drone near Al-Shaabiya Junction in central Gaza City.

In central Gaza, another Israeli drone struck a tent west of Palestine Tower on Al-Nakhl Street in Deir al-Balah, injuring one Palestinian who was taken to hospital.

In northern Gaza, Israeli forces shelled and opened fire on the eastern areas of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood and the town of Jabalia.

In southern Gaza, local sources and witnesses reported a limited Israeli military incursion extending several dozen meters near Street 16, east of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, accompanied by heavy gunfire and artillery shelling before Israeli forces withdrew several hours later.

Israeli artillery also shelled western Rafah, while military vehicles opened heavy fire toward tents sheltering displaced families. Israeli naval vessels also shelled the coastlines of Rafah and Khan Younis.

According to the latest figures from Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Israeli ceasefire violations had resulted in the martyrdom of 1,127 Palestinians and 3,643 injuries as of Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that Israel continues to kill children in Gaza as a “routine matter,” stating that 274 children have been killed—an average of one child per day—since the ceasefire, while the total number of children killed since the beginning of what it described as the genocide in 2023 has exceeded 21,000.

Haaretz said most of the children were killed in airstrikes, while others died from sniper fire, collapsing buildings, or shrapnel. It also noted that some children died from injuries that Gaza’s collapsed healthcare system was unable to treat.

According to United Nations data, more than 18,000 patients in Gaza urgently require medical evacuation to receive treatment unavailable inside the territory, while the number of approved evacuations remains far below humanitarian needs.

Gaza’s healthcare system continues to face an unprecedented crisis due to the destruction of medical facilities and severe shortages of fuel, medicines, and medical supplies, significantly limiting hospitals’ ability to perform surgeries and provide specialized care.

Haaretz also noted that some children have died from hunger and disease but are not included in the official death toll, and published photographs of children martyred in Israeli attacks.

According to a previous World Food Programme (WFP) report, 1.6 million people in Gaza—representing 77% of the population—are experiencing severe food insecurity, including more than 100,000 children and 37,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Although the October 2025 ceasefire agreement stipulated the entry of 600 aid trucks per day under the humanitarian protocol, Israel has failed to comply, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office, with aid deliveries reaching only 38% of pre-war levels.

Haaretz also reported that 1.7 million people remain displaced, living in tents without electricity, running water, or sewage services.

In recent weeks, hospitals across Gaza have also recorded increasing cases of rodent bites, highlighting the deteriorating environmental conditions caused by accumulated waste and untreated sewage around displacement sites under the continuing Israeli blockade, raising fears of a major public health disaster.
