The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip said on Saturday that 70% of transport and ambulance vehicles are out of service due to direct Israeli targeting, or due to accumulated technical malfunctions and the unavailability of spare parts.

The ministry added in a press statement that the remaining dilapidated transport and ambulance service vehicles are no longer fit to meet daily needs.
It explained that there is a real difficulty in meeting transportation needs for both patients and health workers, given the lack of safe transportation alternatives.
The ministry pointed out that the continuous ban on importing tires and spare parts pushes the health sector toward a complete paralysis of the transportation system.
"Buses belonging to transport companies contracted with the Ministry of Health are now operating under difficult technical and mechanical conditions, as routine maintenance has stopped for months due to the lack of spare parts," according to the ministry.
The Ministry of Health warned of the consequences of stopping transport services and its impact on the access of medical staff and patients to healthcare facilities.
