Appearing on the YouTube show "Yargısız," she explained that she feels uncomfortable whenever she receives expressions of admiration, noting that she finds it difficult to accept compliments directed at her.
When asked if she was ever convinced that she was beautiful, she answered no, saying that this description always came from others.
She stressed that when she looks in the mirror, she feels a deep sense of estrangement toward her reflection, to the point that she sometimes asks herself, "Who is this?" She added that in the past, she at least felt more familiar when looking into her own eyes.
She also revealed that being repeatedly described as beautiful since childhood left a negative psychological impact, due to the associated preconceptions and judgments.
Recalling an incident from her early years in kindergarten, her teacher compared her to a paper doll. She did not see this comparison as a compliment, because she knew those dolls tore easily and were thrown in the trash, which was the first thing that crossed her mind back then.
She added that matters became more complicated during her teenage years, after some of her friends told her that before getting to know her, they thought she was arrogant or of limited intelligence just because she was beautiful. She considers that such preconceptions generated a sense of aversion toward her external appearance.
The Turkish star also touched upon her relationship with cosmetics, explaining that she inclines toward using them only to the narrowest extent.
She said she spent many years without even wearing mascara, and only began using it rarely as she grew older and for specific occasions.
