The coaching staff of the French national team decided to partially rest "Les Bleus" captain Kylian Mbappé during Monday's final training session ahead of their clash with Spain in the World Cup semi-finals, after he sustained a minor ankle injury during the quarter-final victory over Morocco.اضافة اعلان

The injury is not expected to rule him out of the match, as France coach Didier Deschamps told reporters, "Kylian is fine."

When asked about Mbappé's training, Deschamps added, "Yes, he trained. He was allowed to do 10 minutes in one drill instead of 15 minutes."

Mbappé was substituted in the final minutes of France's 2-0 win over Morocco on Thursday.

Mbappé leads the tournament's top scorers with 8 goals, tied with Argentina captain Lionel Messi.

France reached the finals of the last two World Cups, winning the title in Russia in 2018 and losing to Argentina less than four years ago in Qatar in an epic final, despite a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappé.

France is seeking its third world title, whereas Spain—despite its rich footballing history—has only lifted the trophy once, in South Africa in 2010.

Many observers believe Spain's squad this year possesses the quality needed to win the tournament, but they must first find a way to stop France's star-studded attack led by Mbappé.
