This year's edition marks another milestone in the fair's long-standing journey as one of the world's leading literary and publishing events.

The program will feature publishing houses, literary and intellectual discussions, activities for children and young adults, as well as specialized professional programs for the publishing industry.

Strengthening the Role of Books in Society

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, said the Sharjah International Book Fair reflects the emirate's decades-long commitment to books and reading, helping make literature an integral part of family life and youth culture.

She noted that for more than 45 years, the fair has strengthened the role of books in society while creating broader opportunities for Arab culture to engage in dialogue with the world.

"Each edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair carries a renewed responsibility toward readers, writers, and publishers," Al Qasimi said. "The direct relationship between people and books is what creates lasting cultural impact and gives the fair its value within society.

The event allows cultures to present their literature, ideas, and experiences in their own languages while giving audiences the opportunity to engage directly with their authors and creators.

At the same time, it expands opportunities for Arabic literature to participate in meaningful global dialogue and reach new readers."

A Comprehensive Vision for the Publishing Industry

Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, described the Sharjah International Book Fair as one of the emirate's most significant cultural initiatives, reflecting the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to promote development through investment in knowledge.

He said the fair celebrates books as a cornerstone of civilization while providing a global platform that brings together every part of the knowledge ecosystem from readers, authors, publishers, artists, and distributors to librarians.

"The fair has transformed perceptions of what a book fair can be," Al Ameri said. "It has become a comprehensive cultural event that fosters communication, knowledge exchange, and showcases the strength and global presence of Arab culture."

He added that, under the guidance of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the fair continues to expand its international reach and enhance its programs, particularly through its Guest of Honor initiative, which introduces visitors to the literature, arts, and intellectual heritage of a featured country while encouraging collaboration between cultural institutions and creative communities.

Oman Named Guest of Honor

The Sultanate of Oman will serve as the Guest of Honor for the 45th edition of the fair, presenting its rich cultural, literary, artistic, and historical heritage to international audiences.

Oman's participation is expected to strengthen Gulf and Arab cultural exchange while offering visitors the opportunity to meet leading Omani authors, intellectuals, and artists through a variety of cultural events and discussions.

Extensive Cultural and Professional Program

The fair's cultural and professional agenda will feature meetings with renowned writers and thinkers, panel discussions, book signings, poetry evenings, creative workshops, and educational activities for children and young adults.

In addition, specialized programs will cater to professionals working in publishing, translation, and library services, providing visitors with opportunities to discover new books, meet their authors, participate in discussions, and develop new skills and knowledge throughout the 12-day event.
