“Over the past 40 years, unfortunately, extremism, fanaticism and takfiri ideology have begun to spread, and we must continue and intensify efforts to eradicate them from their roots,” the Prime Minister said.
“There is absolutely no place for extremism and takfiri ideology in our country and society. We have fought takfiri extremists throughout the past decade, and we continue to do so,” he added.
Hassan stressed that the battle is not solely a security battle, but also “a battle of awareness and ideas.”
He said diversity, cohesion and openness are what foster intellectual, scientific, civilizational and cultural prosperity and build outstanding societies. He noted that these principles are among the foundations upon which the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was established.
The Prime Minister also said all state institutions are working to apprehend those responsible so they can receive the punishment they deserve.
The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, began its session Sunday morning by reciting Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of the terrorist attack in Karak.
Hassan renewed, on behalf of the Cabinet, his condolences to the people of the beloved city of Karak and to the families and relatives of those who were martyred in Friday’s “heinous” terrorist crime. He also wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The Prime Minister said the crime claimed the lives of some of the country’s finest citizens: martyr Dr. Maher Adel Zreiqat, martyr Ehab Nayef Al-Halaseh, martyr Dr. Fadi Assem Al-Halaseh, martyr Dr. Khaled Mikhael Al-Halaseh, martyr Dr. Assem Amin Al-Barqan, martyr Alaa Khalil Al-Masarwa, martyr Marwan Khalil Khaitan, martyr Dr. Mohammad Yousef Al-Qasous, and martyr Mazen Rasmi Al-Qasous.
Hassan noted that over the past four decades, extremism, fanaticism and takfiri ideology have unfortunately begun to spread, stressing the need to continue and intensify efforts to eradicate them from their roots.
“There is absolutely no place for this ideology in this country or society. We have fought takfiri extremists throughout the past decade, and we continue to do so,” he said.
He emphasized that the challenge extends beyond security, describing it as a battle of awareness and thought. He warned that societies and nations collapse when discord, fanaticism, racism and extremism become widespread.
The Prime Minister further stressed that diversity, cohesion and openness are essential to achieving intellectual, scientific, civilizational and cultural prosperity and building distinguished societies. He said these principles form part of the foundations upon which the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was established and which the Jordanian people, under their wise Hashemite leadership, have built to remain a beacon in the region.
Hassan reiterated that all state institutions are working to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure that they receive the punishment they deserve.
