Prime Minister Jafar Hassan affirmed that the criminal and misguided hands responsible for the deaths of several distinguished Jordanians today “will not escape punishment.”
Speaking during a security meeting he chaired in Karak Governorate on Friday evening, Hassan referred to King Abdullah II’s directives for all state agencies to mobilize their efforts and resources to bring those responsible to justice and ensure they receive the punishment they deserve.
“Our security agencies will not relent, and we will apprehend them,” Hassan said.
The Prime Minister said the attack was the result of “terrorist extremist ideology and blind extremism,” stressing that the government would not allow society to move in that direction.
“We will take the strongest legal measures against anyone who engages in incitement and against anyone who attempts to create an opening for extremism within our society. This is essential and necessary,” he said.
Hassan stressed that, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, Jordan would continue to stand as an impenetrable barrier against extremist ideology and “these misguided Kharijites,” whom he said have absolutely no place in Jordan.
He also stressed that anyone who cooperates with such groups would have no place in the country or society.
Hassan opened the security meeting by praying for the souls of the martyrs who lost their lives in Karak, describing them as among the finest sons of the nation, and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister received briefings from relevant ministers and security agency directors on the condition of those injured and the progress of the security operation to pursue the perpetrators and bring them to justice so they receive the punishment they deserve for their heinous crime.
