The Eastern Military Zone foiled an attempt early Sunday to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using guided balloons after detecting them as they attempted to cross the border into Jordanian territory.

Border Guard units operating within their area of responsibility detected the balloons, intercepted them and brought them down inside Jordanian territory. The narcotics they were carrying were seized in coordination with the security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. The seized materials were then handed over to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal measures.
The Jordan Armed Forces reaffirmed that they will continue to deal firmly with all attempts at infiltration and smuggling, while monitoring the various methods and means used to carry out such operations and taking the necessary operational measures to thwart them and respond accordingly.
