More than 170 artists and intellectuals in Hollywood have signed an open letter in solidarity with American actor Mark Ruffalo, rejecting accusations that he was promoting antisemitism because of his political positions and criticism of Israel.

The letter came following the controversy sparked by Ruffalo's criticism of an acquisition deal linked to the Ellison family, owner of Paramount, and his warning about its potential repercussions for the American film industry.
He also accused the family of complicity in genocide against the Palestinians, pointing to their ties to the Israeli military establishment through the company Oracle.
The list of signatories included prominent names in cinema and the arts, among them: Hannah Einbinder, Joel Coen, Todd Haynes, Ilana Glazer, Tony Kushner, Emma Seligman, Jane Schoenbrun, and Wallace Shawn a sign of the widening circle of solidarity with Ruffalo within Jewish artistic circles in the United States.
