El-Taji had undergone a delicate surgery in recent days after suffering severe spinal pain that affected his ability to walk normally and caused him to develop a stooped posture. He subsequently underwent medical examinations before undergoing abdominal surgery to remove several fatty masses.

Earlier, El-Taji had also undergone abdominal surgery to treat a hernia. This followed three consecutive surgeries, which had negatively affected his health.

Born in Cairo on April 28, 1954, El-Taji was the grandson of late Egyptian actor Abdel Warith Asar. He appeared in prominent roles across dozens of films, television series and theatrical productions.

His credits included the play Al-Motazawigoun alongside Samir Ghanem and Shereen, the film Al-Motared with Nour El-Sherif and Soheir Ramzy, and the television series Al-Bashayer with Mahmoud Abdel Aziz and Hadayek El-Shaitan with Gamal Soliman. He also appeared in the series Molouk El-Gad'ana, Al-Aghar, Al-Atawla and El-Le'ba.
