Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received Witkoff and Kushner, saying Kyiv is “ready for dialogue” and that its proposals for ending the war are “ready,” according to Reuters.
Ahead of the meeting with the US envoys, Zelenskyy held talks with Ukraine’s negotiating team. In a post on X, he said he was ready for dialogue.
“We are ready for dialogue. Ukraine has always taken a constructive position and will continue to do so,” he said.
Zelenskyy said Kyiv is interested in “bringing the war to an end. Peace is needed, security guarantees are needed, and at some point, peace in the post-war period must preserve dignity.”
Earlier, the Kremlin hosted more than three hours of expanded talks between the Russian leadership and the US envoys, focusing on new proposals to end the conflict in Ukraine and discussing major mutually beneficial economic projects.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the negotiators had brought new proposals, while Putin praised US President Donald Trump’s commitment to ending the war, saying that working with the envoys was comfortable.
