Oil prices fell on Friday, ending trading down by more than 2%, as traders grew increasingly confident that the likelihood of a new confrontation between the United States and Iran is receding.

U.S. crude futures for "West Texas Intermediate" (WTI) for July delivery ended trading at $90.54 per barrel, down 2.69% from the previous closing price.
Meanwhile, global crude futures for "Brent" blend for August delivery closed trading at $93.09 per barrel, a decrease of 2.04% from the previous settlement price.
Both benchmarks had risen earlier this week following the outbreak of fighting in the Middle East amidst ongoing peace talks between the United States and Iran, while traffic remained limited through the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world's oil passes. — RT
