The U.S. Department of State has urged its citizens currently in Iran to leave the country by land to Armenia or Turkey, if it is safe to do so, amid continued tightening of security measures and disruptions to communications and transportation services.
In a statement posted on its official account on the platform X, the State Department said Iran is witnessing heightened security measures, including road closures, disruptions to public transportation, and the blocking of internet services.
It added that the Iranian government continues to restrict access to mobile and landline communications networks, as well as national internet networks, noting that airlines are still imposing restrictions or canceling flights to and from Iran.
The Department advised U.S. citizens to expect ongoing internet outages, plan alternative means of communication, and closely monitor security developments on a continuous basis.
The State Department noted that these warnings come as part of its monitoring of security and logistical developments inside Iran and out of concern for the safety of its citizens.
