U.S. President Donald Trump described Hamas’s statement approving his plan as a clear indication that the group is ready to achieve lasting peace in the region.

In a brief address from his White House office, Trump said: “This is a great day. We look forward to the return of all hostages to their families as soon as possible,” while also expressing hope to finalize the agreement’s details soon.
The President also expressed gratitude to the countries that supported diplomatic efforts regarding Gaza, stating: “I want to thank the countries that helped on the Gaza issue, such as Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and others.”
Trump added that everyone is united in the desire to end the war and see peace in the Middle East.
Earlier, Trump stressed on his official Truth Social account that Israel must immediately stop bombing Gaza “so that we can safely and quickly release the hostages,” emphasizing that continued strikes make the release process “extremely dangerous at this time.”
He noted that detailed discussions have already begun regarding the next steps, pointing out that the issue is not limited to Gaza alone but concerns long-awaited peace across the entire Middle East.
Trump’s statement came hours after Hamas announced its approval of the U.S. proposal for a prisoner exchange, aimed at ending the war and facilitating Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza.
Hamas clarified that its response followed “in-depth consultations within its leadership institutions, extensive consultations with Palestinian factions, and discussions with mediators and friends to reach a responsible position on Trump’s plan.”
The movement reiterated its approval to “hand over the administration of Gaza to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats) based on national Palestinian consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic states.”
