Former U.S. President Donald Trump hinted at progress toward reaching an agreement with China regarding the operations of TikTok in the United States, a move that could allow the popular app to continue operating in the American market.

Trump made the remarks in a post on the social media platform Truth Social, stating: “An agreement has been reached regarding a certain company that the youth in our country are eager to save, and they will be extremely happy,” apparently referring to TikTok.
He also noted that trade negotiations between the United States and China “have gone successfully,” confirming that he will hold a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping next Friday. Trump added: “The major U.S.-China trade meeting in Europe went very successfully and will conclude soon… I will negotiate with President Xi on Friday.”
This announcement comes amid increasing U.S. pressure on TikTok, as the U.S. administration had set September 17 as the deadline for the company either to sell its U.S. operations or shut down the app in the country.
