ISLAMABAD — Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Thursday that the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States to end the war in the Middle East will result in Tehran reopening the Strait of Hormuz and the immediate lifting of the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports.

Writing on the social media platform X, Sharif stated that the memorandum "will take effect immediately. As a first step, the Islamic Republic of Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz without delay, and the United States of America will immediately lift its naval blockade."
The Prime Minister also confirmed that a ceremony will be held this Friday in Switzerland to "celebrate this landmark milestone and officially launch technical negotiations."
