During its regular ministerial meeting held today, Thursday, NATO’s Nuclear Planning Group confirmed that the Alliance's strategic nuclear forces remain the supreme guarantee of member states' security and constitute the core pillar of NATO's extended nuclear deterrence framework.

The Group's ministers agreed to continue strengthening NATO’s nuclear deterrence mission by modernizing nuclear capabilities, enhancing nuclear planning capacities, and adapting policies and procedures to serve the Alliance's security interests.
The statement emphasized that the Alliance maintains a safe, secure, effective, and credible nuclear posture aimed at preserving peace, preventing coercion, and deterring any acts of aggression.
Furthermore, member countries of the Nuclear Planning Group renewed their ongoing commitment to sharing the responsibilities, risks, and burdens associated with collective defense. This will be achieved through investing in the resources, capabilities, and forces necessary to execute the Alliance's nuclear mission, reflecting NATO's unity and resolve.
