Israel expects the United States to join its ongoing military offensive against Iran, according to Hebrew-language media reports citing senior Israeli officials.

Israel’s Kan public broadcaster reported Tuesday that an unnamed high-ranking Israeli official believes President Donald Trump is likely to join the attacks, adding, “Trump would want to be remembered as someone who participated and did not remain neutral.”
Since the early hours of Friday, Israel—with implicit U.S. backing—has launched a wide-scale assault on Iran, striking nuclear facilities, missile bases, and assassinating senior military commanders and nuclear scientists. According to Iranian reports, these strikes have caused 224 deaths and 1,277 injuries.
The Fordow Challenge
A focal point of Israeli concern is Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility, which remains untouched. According to Israel Hayom, Fordow is deeply fortified, built 90 meters underground within a mountain, making it nearly impossible to destroy without U.S. support.
“Without the United States, we will only be able to cause limited damage to Fordow,” the Israeli official said.
The U.S. B-2 stealth bomber is seen as the only aircraft capable of penetrating Fordow’s depth and fortifications. The B-2 is a long-range, multi-role bomber capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear payloads with precision.
Israel's National Security Council Chief Tzachi Hanegbi stressed on Tuesday: “We will not end this war without targeting Fordow.”
Trump’s Position
On Tuesday, Trump wrote on Truth Social:
“Iran must surrender unconditionally. I have no desire to negotiate.”
He also claimed:
“We have full control over Tehran’s airspace. We know where [Iran’s Supreme Leader] is hiding—but we’re not taking him out yet.”
According to Channel 13, Israel continues to prepare for a direct strike on Fordow, which remains a high-value target.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant confirmed ongoing coordination between Israeli leaders and the Trump administration, specifically mentioning direct dialogue between Prime Minister Netanyahu, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, and President Trump.
Signs of U.S. Military Involvement
Citing unnamed officials, Israel Hayom noted that the proximity of U.S. destroyers and naval forces to the region indicates that Trump is already involved.
Supporting that view, The Wall Street Journal revealed that a third U.S. destroyer had entered the eastern Mediterranean to help intercept Iranian missiles targeting Israel, while a second aircraft carrier strike group was moving into the Arabian Sea.
