U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed cautious optimism on Wednesday about the possibility of a "swift" resolution to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of all the "hostages" held by Hamas.

Speaking before a congressional committee, Rubio said: “I have a certain degree of optimism regarding the potential to achieve positive results soon, with the hope of putting an end to this situation and securing the release of all hostages.”
Rubio, who acknowledged having made similar predictions in the past, added that he did not want to get ahead of events, saying: “I’ve had this feeling at least four times in the past two months, and for one reason or another, it didn’t materialize at the last moment.”
He continued: “I don’t want to be disappointed again, but I want you to know that efforts are underway to deliver more humanitarian aid and bring this conflict to an end.”
