Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli army dropped leaflets over areas in central Gaza.
The leaflets stated: “O residents of Gaza, the Israeli army is coming.”
The army quoted a Quranic verse from Surah Ash-Shu‘ara (The Poets):
"So We inspired to Moses, 'Strike with your staff the sea,' and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain."
The dropping of the leaflets came a day after the army announced it was expanding its ongoing genocide in Gaza and launched wide-scale strikes under what it called “Operation Gideon’s Vehicles.”
Operation “Gideon’s Vehicles” aims to fully occupy Gaza, according to the official Israeli broadcasting authority on May 5.
Earlier on Friday, the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the “Gideon Sa’ar” operation is progressing in three stages, the first of which has already begun with an expansion of the war in Gaza.
The newspaper added on its website that “the second phase is being prepared through air operations alongside ground operations, as well as working to move most of the civilian population in Gaza to safe shelters in the Rafah area.”
The third phase, according to the newspaper, will involve “the entry of ground forces to gradually occupy wide parts of Gaza and prepare for a long-term military presence in the Strip.”
The paper pointed out that the Israeli army “intends to gradually control the Gaza Strip over several months, aiming to eliminate Hamas and completely destroy the tunnels,” according to the report.
Israel has intensified the pace of the genocide in Gaza over the past five days, committing dozens of horrific massacres. This escalation coincides with U.S. President Donald Trump’s regional tour, during which he promised the people of Gaza “a better future and an end to hunger.”
