A total of 113 human rights networks and organizations worldwide have urgently called on the UN Security Council to impose international sanctions on Israel to halt what they describe as acts of genocide and starvation in Gaza, and to lift the blockade entirely.

According to the official website of the UN Security Council, the appeal—issued late last night in three languages—urges the Council to take immediate action to stop the genocide and save lives amid widespread famine.
The organizations demanded that the international community fulfill its legal, moral, and humanitarian obligations by acting swiftly to end the systematic killing by starvation and thirst, and to remove the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
They described the suffering of Gaza’s residents as collective punishment, a violation of international law, and called for the immediate entry of all humanitarian needs, aid, goods, and fuel to operate hospitals and water plants.
The appeal also urged the UN General Assembly to suspend Israel’s membership, citing the continuation of a “brutal war and ongoing genocide” now in its 576th day, amid dire humanitarian and health conditions due to 64 consecutive days of tightened Israeli blockade.
The blockade, including the closure of all border crossings and denial of food, medicine, and fuel, has caused a catastrophic collapse in essential services: severe water shortages, the halt of wastewater treatment, near-total breakdown of healthcare, and mass bakery closures, effectively weaponizing hunger against civilians.
The organizations emphasized that these systematic policies violate rulings by the International Court of Justice and amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity under international humanitarian and human rights law.
