Speaking at a press conference in Tokyo, Lazzarini stated, “I see it as a waste of resources and a distraction from the atrocities. We already have an aid distribution system fit for this purpose. The humanitarian community in Gaza, including UNRWA, is ready.”

He emphasized that the agency has the expertise and capability to reach those in need.

Lazzarini stressed that time is running out to avoid famine, and humanitarian organizations must be allowed to carry out their life-saving work.

He also pointed out that the agency’s financial situation is dire, adding that it is in urgent need of support to continue its operations beyond June.
