G7 foreign ministers on Monday called on Iran to halt its arming and support of the Houthis in Yemen, saying this represents a dangerous pattern of escalation that threatens to undermine international trade and contribute to global instability.
The foreign ministers of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States said in a statement issued following a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly: “We strongly condemn the continued and unacceptable attacks carried out by the Houthis in Yemen against Saudi Arabia.”
“We call on the Houthis to immediately cease all military activities, threats and attacks against civilian vessels and return to the political process in good faith,” they added.
