His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday stressed the need to intensify joint Arab efforts to sustain de-escalation in the region while safeguarding the security and sovereignty of Arab states.
The King made the remarks during separate meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
King Abdullah conveyed his greetings to Kuwait’s Crown Prince for Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait. Sheikh Sabah, in turn, conveyed the Emir’s greetings to the King and his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Jordan and its people.
The King reiterated his condemnation of the Iranian attacks on Kuwait and the Gulf Arab states, stressing that their security is fundamental to the security and stability of the region.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Salam, King Abdullah stressed the need to halt Israeli attacks on Lebanon and support Lebanese efforts to preserve the country’s security, stability and sovereignty.
The meeting also addressed the outcomes of the recent “Aqaba Meetings” held in Paris on ways to support the Lebanese Armed Forces. Salam expressed his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s continued support.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and Royal Court Chief Alaa Al-Battayneh also attended the two meetings.
