The United Nations General Assembly will open its 80th session next Tuesday with remarks by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the new session’s president, Germany’s Annalena Baerbock.

On September 23, heads of state and government will deliver speeches during the General Debate, as part of the High-Level Week, which is expected to see the participation of over 100 heads of state, 46 prime ministers, along with numerous ministers.
The General Assembly will also hold its fourth high-level meeting on non-communicable diseases and mental health, as well as a high-level meeting marking the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, and another commemorating the 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth.
